In an expansive company that deals with continually varying customer requirements, staff development takes on a special importance.
In addition to our operational training, the programs we offer for the development of young managers are an important element of our strategy to continue our advancement as a company with outstanding and highly motivated staff. Our staff development also includes our ace young talent program.
Junior management program
This two-year young manager trainee program prepares the participants for a subsequent leadership position at BLG. Those who take part in the program spend a year and a half working on interesting business projects connected with different departments and subject areas, being given a high degree of personal responsibility. The sites where they work may even be overseas, e.g. in Malaysia, the USA, or South Africa.
Following the program, many of the participants remain with BLG. In this sense, the program is extremely important for the development of our company and the fostering of our own young talent.
The participants are given the opportunity to acquire new skills in the areas of management, negotiation, and project management and to try them out in workshops e.g. using role-plays. Subsequently, they have the chance to apply this knowledge and put it to the test in the projects, while mentors and project leaders give continual feedback to each one on their individual development.
Over the year and a half of the program and throughout the projects, BLG publishes regular reports in its employee magazine "wir" and its customer magazine "nord°licht".
These aspects were also praised by Absolventa (an online job market popular with graduates) in their initiative for fair trainee programs that promote careers. BLG's FKN program was selected for an award in November 2013 as part of this initiative.
