Stocktaking with drones

Addressing new requirements through digitalization

One example of a digital response to new requirements is the use of drones to support operational processes – in this case, periodic stocktaking and weekly rack inspections at the BLG logistics center in Emmerich. In the block stacking area, where there is constant traffic, a stacker was being used to separate cases and place pallets on the floor. Then an employee would ride up in a lift truck to check a specific box. By integrating a drone in the procedure, BLG has now radically reduced the workload.

For this solution in the field of drone-assisted logistics, implemented together with the start-up sitebots GmbH, BLG LOGISTICS won the elogistics Tool Award 2017. This annual prize is presented by AKJ Automotive – a network of experts in automotive production and logistics.
