Frank Dreeke is new ZDS president

The general meeting of the Central Association of German Seaport Operators (ZDS) unanimously elected Frank Dreeke, the CEO of BLG LOGISTICS GROUP AG & Co. KG, as president of the association.

Frank Dreeke has been part of the five-member executive board of the association, which represents around 180 enterprises involved in maritime cargo handling in ports in Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein, since November 2013.

Frank Dreeke, who was not able to attend the general meeting personally because of illness, made a brief statement of thanks: “I am very pleased about the election and accept the nomination with gratitude. I take the responsibility of representing the multifaceted interests of the seaport and logistics sector in the northern region very seriously and will devote myself to this task with the same commitment as my predecessor Klaus-Dieter Peters. Port operators are faced by challenges that we can best master if we speak to policymakers with one voice.”

Jens Aurel Scharner, Managing Director of the Rostock Port Development Company, will be vice president of the ZDS. Prior to the general meeting he spoke on behalf of Frank Dreeke after the election and said: “We thank the members for their confidence in us and look forward to good cooperation with our partners in industry and politics. Aside from that, on behalf of the entire port sector we would like to thank the outgoing members of the executive board Ulfbenno Krüger, Sören Jurrat and very specially our previous president, Klaus-Dieter Peters, for their committed work and services for our association, the port sector and maritime logistics in general.”

In addition, Jan Müller (J. Müller Aktiengesellschaft), Frank Schnabel (Brunsbüttel Ports GmbH / Rendsburg Port GmbH) and Angela Titzrath (Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG) were unanimously nominated to the ZDS executive board. The association bodies are newly elected every three years.
