First pile driven for more automobile handling in Cuxhaven

The port operating company Niedersachsen Ports is building a new dock for automobile handling in Cuxhaven. The first pile was driven recently.

Ships measuring 160 meters in length are to be cleared there in the course of this year. Niedersachsen Ports is investing around three million euros. BLG’s Auto Terminal in Cuxhaven will profit from this. “We have identified automobile handling as a growing field for our ports. Through this measure we are strengthening our competitive position. After Bremerhaven and Zeebrugge most of the cars in Europe are handled in the ports of Lower Saxony,” says Holger Banik, Managing Director of Niedersachsen Ports.
