BLG LOGISTICS is pleased to announce the expansion of its long-standing partnership with Konica Minolta. The co-operation, which has existed for over four decades, has been extended to include additional services. This will not only create new jobs, but also further utilise the strategic and logistical advantages of the Emmerich on the Rhine site.
The partnership between BLG LOGISTICS and Konica Minolta began in 1980 and has steadily intensified since then. As a long-standing logistics partner, the BLG Group has made a significant contribution to the continuous optimisation of the customer's logistics and operational processes over the decades. Following a relocation of the business from Bremen to Emmerich in 2008, the operational business now covers an area of 80,000 square metres. In addition to the transport, storage, picking and despatch of printers and copiers, the range of services also includes pre-delivery installation, i.e. the assembly, calibration and installation of modern multifunctional devices. Around 250 employees contribute to the success of this partnership every day.
Spare parts supply for the whole of Europe from a single source
To optimise the supply chain, new orders were integrated into the European warehouse in Emmerich on the Rhine, including spare parts logistics and the Healthcare division. “The integration and expansion of our distribution centre in Emmerich is an integral part and milestone of our corporate and SCM transformation. I am particularly pleased that, with the help of our logistics partner BLG LOGISTICS, we were able to carry out the implementation for our customers almost without interruption. In future, we will be able to offer our customers the entire range of our products and services from a single source and with improved service,“ says Winfried Hennemuth, Head of International SCM Division, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH. With the expansion of the order, BLG LOGISTICS is taking over the entire spare parts supply for the European market. A successful ‘decade project’ that sets the course for the future.
“As a long-standing logistics partner of Konica Minolta, we are proud to take our collaboration to a new level,“ says Thomas Leiber, Managing Director of BLG LOGISTICS in the CONTRACT Division. “With 40,000 additional items and an outgoing goods volume of 3.5 million parts per year, we are setting an important milestone and strengthening Emmerich as a central logistics hub for Europe. The location impresses with its efficient logistics centre and thus also our role as a strong partner for Konica Minolta in Europe.“ As an important German inland port, Emmerich has trimodal transport connections - with direct access to motorways, railways and waterways. This location makes Emmerich a key location for European goods logistics.
