Last week, seaport and logistics service provider BLG LOGISTICS, which is headquartered in Bremen, received a major award from a customer in the category Sustainability for International Procurement Services (IPS). Mercedes-Benz Group AG confers the Supplier Award each year to highlight outstanding achievements of its suppliers. BLG LOGISTICS won the award for its green lighthouse project “C3 Bremen”, which is recognized in many ways as a blueprint for the construction and design of logistics buildings of the future.

Matthias Magnor, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the BLG Group, accepted the award in the Mercedes-Benz Customer Center in Sindelfingen before an audience of around 500 participants. In his acceptance speech he said: “This award means a great deal to us because the C3 Bremen is the outstanding physical result of our 30-year, trust-based cooperation with the Mercedes-Benz Group AG. We feel honored to be a service supplier to a partner with whom we can realize such groundbreaking and bold projects for a great future.”

C3 Bremen: an innovative lighthouse project
The C3 Bremen (the three Cs stand for customer, climate, comfort) is a groundbreaking project that in a unique way achieves the triple goals of customer satisfaction, sustainability and employee comfort. The logistics center was planned and built according to a holistic green concept. Thanks to the high level of automation, digitalization, and intelligent technology applied, the logistics processes are perfectly tailored to the requirements of the customer Mercedes-Benz Group AG. On a roof area of more than 80,000 square meters, BLG operates the currently largest continuous photovoltaic system on an industrial building in Germany.
The C3 Bremen demonstrates three key aspects that go together today: state-of-the-art tech, climate protection and the well-being of the people who work there. Matthias Magnor explains: “The logistics center is a visible manifestation of the BLG sustainability strategy to become climate-neutral by 2030. Our goals for radically reducing greenhouse gas emissions are recognized by the Science Based Targets initiative 2020. This made BLG LOGISTICS the first German logistics service provider with a scientifically recognized climate protection goal.”
