WHAT WE OFFER IN FALKENSEE
BLG LOGISTICS has been operating a supplier logistics center (SLC) in Falkensee since 2014 and bundles the majority of external warehouse processes for the SIEMENS-ENERGY switchgear plant in Berlin there. Since 2018, the gas turbine plant of SIEMENS-ENERGY has also been supplied from Falkensee, and since 2020 BLG has been carrying out global spare parts logistics for gas turbines in Ludwigsfelde for SIEMENS-ENERGY.
The range of services on a total of around 66,000 square meters includes just-in-time production supply, technical identity checks, quality inspections, storage and retrieval, re-packing and packaging activities, set and kit formation, load carrier management, shuttle transports and the integration of suppliers with contract and consignment warehouses.
In addition, we handle logistics for various international automotive suppliers at the site: starting with the import of customs goods including customs warehouse, technical quality tests (inspection, measurement), mechanical reworking and cleaning of materials, order picking and set formation through to shuttle transports to the plants.
In view of the high number of daily call-off items, BLG has restructured the existing inbound material supply process together with the customer Siemens Energy Schaltwerk so that a complete warehouse stage can be eliminated. New narrow-aisle racking with semi-autonomous high-lift order pickers, 2 automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and a dynamic AutoStore with 70,000 totes and 20 robots were installed.
AutoStore is a robotic storage technology that is, above all, space-saving and easily scalable. Users can thus react quickly and flexibly to changes in quantity. SIEMENS-ENERGY can now use the space freed up in the plant for the expansion of production or hand over parts of the plant space for the construction of the Siemens Campus in Siemensstadt.
A large part of the current inbound logistics for supplying the plant is thus in the hands of BLG.
