Setup, organization, and operation of terminals
A pioneer in the offshore wind energy industry
In Bremerhaven, we set up the "Offshore Terminal ABC-Halbinsel" on an area of 100,000 square meters. Using our specially trained skilled port workers, our innovative logistics concepts and high-performance equipment, the setup of a series of wind farms in the German North Sea started out from here, e.g. the Trianel wind farm Borkum. Our team is also active in other locations. At the EUROGATE container terminal in Wilhelmshaven, we set up another terminal operation. In addition, our team assisted as regards concepts and operations with the assembly of the rotor star for the Global Tech 1 wind farm.

Research and development
Looking to the future
Knowledge that is gained today may be obsolete tomorrow. Therefore, we don't rest on our laurels. BLG WindEnergy Logistics continually contributes research and development, both alone and together with well-know partners from industry and science. One example: We are working on an IT-supported application which allows real time monitoring of the material flow along the process chain during the installation of offshore wind farms. The aim is to automatically collect information on the status and position of the equipment components using tracking and communications modules. Thus, the application should be able to reschedule processes and resources if the weather changes, for example, so that the entire process can be more safely controlled.
Controlling costs and risks
The construction of offshore wind farms is highly complex and linked with many risks and high costs. Innovative logistics concepts can help to minimize the risks as well as the costs. When we develop these logistics concepts, we use simulations to graphically depict and model complex issues. Our simulation experts generate different scenarios, based on which the alternatives can be evaluated efficiently – an important aid to decision-making.

Efficient and reproducible processes for the transport of heavy loads
Bremerhaven is the base for some notable manufacturers from the offshore wind industry who were involved in setting up the first German offshore wind farms. We developed individual and innovative logistics concepts for these projects and implemented them, deploying our qualified staff and special equipment. These first transportations, from the production, to the interim storage, through to the transshipment to the installation vessel were pioneering achievements.
