Ahlhorn, December 5, 2025: Today, the new BLG inland terminal in Ahlhorn was officially opened by the Minister for Economic Affairs of the State of Lower Saxony. Following the successful start of operations this summer, Lower Saxony's Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport and Construction, Grant Hendrik Tonne, the Mayor of Großenkneten, Thorsten Schmidtke, the CEO of the BLG Group, Matthias Magnor, and COO Axel Krichel symbolically cut the red ribbon.

Customer business has been running successfully at the site since July 1, 2025. Currently, 22 employees are working together with a BLG project team on the further expansion of the terminal. By the end of 2026, a fully-fledged inland terminal with storage capacity for up to 16,000 vehicles on around 35 hectares will be built in Ahlhorn. A temporary technical hall will be available as early as the first quarter of 2026 to expand the range of technical services offered. The expansion is scheduled for completion at the end of 2026 and will then include integrated logistics solutions and additional technical services.

Economics Minister Grant Hendrik Tonne emphasises the importance of the new terminal: "The new inland terminal in Ahlhorn is a boon for BLG, the Hansalinie Metropolitan Park and the entire region. It strengthens logistics as a key pillar of our business location and shows how modern, sustainable infrastructure enables growth and creates new prospects. Lower Saxony is a logistics hub – with a central location, efficient infrastructure and a high level of expertise. The future-oriented expansion of the site impressively underlines the importance of this industry for employment and economic strength in our state."

More than just additional space: BLG strengthens its AUTOMOBILE segment

The new terminal is a central component of BLG LOGISTICS' growth strategy. The combination of storage space, technical services and efficient logistics will create an integrated location for vehicle logistics in Ahlhorn. ‘The new terminal in Ahlhorn is much more than just additional space for us. We are specifically strengthening our offering in the area of integrated logistics solutions and technical services, which are increasingly in demand by our customers,’ emphasises Matthias Magnor, CEO of BLG LOGISTICS.

Sustainable future and regional prospects

The site in the Hansalinie Metropolpark has been leased on a long-term basis. It utilises new space potential in the hinterland and, with its proximity to the A1 and A29 motorways, offers a strategically strong location for national and international goods flows. Sustainability plays a central role in further expansion: modern heat pump technologies, the use of green electricity and a photovoltaic system on the hall area are planned. Vehicles can already be transported by rail with low emissions, and the rail infrastructure is set to be further expanded in the future.

A location that shapes the future

With the official inauguration, BLG LOGISTICS has reached the next milestone in the construction of the terminal. By the end of 2026, Ahlhorn will be fully expanded and supplemented with additional services, space and infrastructure. This will not only create additional capacity for vehicle logistics, but also new, attractive jobs in the region.

Ahlhorn stands for growth with responsibility: a location that strengthens vehicle logistics, opens up regional opportunities and contributes to the sustainable mobility of tomorrow.
